By CricBengal Desk: Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is all set to make his debut in Australia’s premier T20 competition, the Big Bash League (BBL), after being roped in by the Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming 2026–27 season. Both Mustafizur and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain have officially applied for No Objection Certificates (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
BCB President Tamim Iqbal confirmed the development to reporters on Monday during the players’ auction for the domestic ‘D3’ tournament. Tamim expressed a positive stance regarding their clearance, indicating that the board is keen to allow the duo to participate in the Australian franchise league.
While this marks a maiden BBL appearance for the “Cutter Master,” Melbourne Renegades previously hosted former Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who was the first Bangladeshi cricketer to feature in the tournament. Due to his impending BBL commitments in December and January, Mustafizur will miss the T20 leg of the domestic D3 tournament and was acquired by Seven Rings Cement for 70 lakh virtual points solely for the ODI format.
Meanwhile, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain is set to return to the Hobart Hurricanes following a standout campaign with the franchise last season. Rishad’s impressive wicket-taking ability in Australian conditions last year played a key role in drawing further franchise interest toward Bangladeshi talent.
