Amite Hasan Replaces Mominul Haque in Bangladesh Squad for Sylhet Test

CricBengal.com | Sports Desk

Bangladesh have made one change to their 15-member squad for the second and final Test against West Indies, with right-handed batter Amite Hasan replacing experienced left-hander Mominul Haque.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the squad on Saturday. The second Test is scheduled to begin on November 5 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Mominul Ruled Out Under Concussion Protocol

Mominul sustained a head injury while fielding during the opening Test in Dhaka. He was stationed at short leg when he was struck while attempting to take a catch during West Indies’ first innings.

After showing signs of concussion, Mominul was withdrawn from the match and replaced by Jaker Ali Anik as Bangladesh’s concussion substitute.

Under the International Cricket Council’s concussion guidelines, a player diagnosed with concussion must observe a mandatory minimum seven-calendar-day stand-down period before returning to play. As a result, Mominul is unavailable for the Sylhet Test.

Amite Hasan Earns a Squad Call-Up

Amite Hasan has been brought into the squad as Mominul’s replacement. The right-handed batter earned attention through his performances in domestic cricket.

He scored an unbeaten 201 in the fourth round of the ongoing National Cricket League before adding 34 runs against Chattogram in the following round.

Amite made his Test debut against Zimbabwe in Harare earlier this year. He has played one Test for Bangladesh so far and could get another opportunity to strengthen his position in the national setup.

Mushfiqur Rahim Retains His Place

Experienced batter Mushfiqur Rahim is also included in the squad after missing the first Test because of a finger injury. Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue as captain, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz remains vice-captain.

Bangladesh lost the opening Test by eight wickets and currently trail the two-match series 1-0. They will aim to level the series with a strong performance in Sylhet.

CricBengal Analysis

Mominul’s absence removes an experienced batter from Bangladesh’s lineup, creating an opportunity for Amite Hasan to make an impression. His recent domestic form provides encouragement, but the challenge of international Test cricket will be significant.

After losing the first match, Bangladesh will need greater batting consistency and a more effective bowling performance to keep the series alive.
