Australia have announced their squads for the upcoming home white-ball series against England, with Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood rested from the ODI leg. The decision has been made with Australia’s preparations for the upcoming home Test series against New Zealand in mind.
With Cummins unavailable, Mitchell Marsh will lead Australia in both the ODI and T20I squads.
Young fast bowler Mahli Beardman has earned an ODI call-up following an impressive performance for Australia A during their recent tour of India. The opportunity could lead to his international ODI debut during the England series.
ODI Series Begins in Perth on November 13
The three-match ODI series will begin in Perth on November 13. The second match is scheduled for Adelaide on November 15, followed by the third in Hobart on November 18.
The two teams will then meet in a five-match T20I series. Australia have also named their squad for that leg, with wicketkeeper-batters Lachlan Shaw and Sam Harper receiving their first opportunities in international cricket.
Selectors Back Beardman’s Potential
Australia’s selection panel chair George Bailey expressed confidence in Beardman’s potential after the fast bowler’s recent performances for Australia A.
Bailey described Beardman’s displays as outstanding and said the selectors were pleased to see him earn an opportunity with the national side. He added that they believed the young quick could develop into a player capable of representing Australia across all formats in the coming years.
Shaw and Harper Earn T20I Opportunities
Lachlan Shaw and Sam Harper have both been included in Australia’s T20I squad for the five-match series.
Shaw’s selection follows his performances during Australia’s recent tour of India and in the Big Bash League. The 23-year-old has also been appointed captain of New South Wales’ one-day side.
Harper, meanwhile, plays for the Melbourne Stars and was named Player of the Season in the previous Big Bash campaign. He has also featured in overseas franchise cricket. His selection follows his inclusion in Australia’s Test squad for the tour of South Africa.
Fraser-McGurk and Owen Return
Jake Fraser-McGurk and Mitchell Owen have returned to the T20I squad.
Fraser-McGurk last represented Australia in July 2025. His recent domestic form for South Australia has helped him earn another opportunity at international level.
Owen, who was not included in Australia’s T20 World Cup or Bangladesh tour squads, has also been recalled.
Injuries Keep Several Players Out
Billy Stanlake remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from a side strain sustained during Australia’s tour of Zimbabwe.
Aaron Hardie, Riley Meredith and Matthew Kuhnemann have also missed selection as they recover from shoulder injuries.
Australia’s ODI Squad
Mitchell Marsh (captain), Xavier Bartlett, Mahli Beardman, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Jack Edwards, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Ollie Peake, Matthew Renshaw, Liam Scott and Adam Zampa.
Australia’s T20I Squad
Mitchell Marsh (captain), Xavier Bartlett, Mahli Beardman, Nikhil Chaudhary, Tim David, Joel Davies, Jack Edwards, Nathan Ellis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Sam Harper, Spencer Johnson, Mitchell Owen, Lachlan Shaw and Adam Zampa.
CricBengal Analysis: Resting Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood creates opportunities for Australia’s other fast-bowling options to make an impression against England. Beardman’s inclusion will be particularly significant as he looks to take his first steps in international ODI cricket. The T20I squad also provides opportunities for Shaw and Harper to make their international debuts.
