Bangladesh Latest Update Against West Indies in Mirpur Test

CricBengal.com | Cricket Desk

Bangladesh suffered a major batting collapse against the West Indies on Day 3 of the first Test in Mirpur, ending Friday’s play at 79 for six in their second innings. Despite securing a 27-run first-innings lead, the hosts now lead by just 106 runs with four wickets remaining.

Play was called off early due to bad light at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on October 30. At stumps, Jaker Ali and Nayeem Hasan were unbeaten on 18 each, having added an unbroken 26-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Roston Chase Leads West Indies’ Bowling Attack

Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals during their second innings. Tanzid Hasan was dismissed for a duck, while Shadman Islam made 13.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 10 before falling to Roston Chase. Towhid Hridoy was dismissed without scoring, leaving Bangladesh in serious trouble.

Chase claimed three wickets, while left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican removed Litton Das for four and Mehidy Hasan Miraz for nine.

Bangladesh were reduced to 53 for six before Jaker and Nayeem began rebuilding the innings.

Nayeem Hasan Takes Four Wickets

Earlier, Bangladesh bowled out West Indies for 245 in their first innings. Bangladesh had scored 272, giving the hosts a 27-run advantage.

Nayeem Hasan was the leading bowler for Bangladesh, taking four wickets for 33 runs. Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up two wickets each.

For West Indies, Tagenarine Chanderpaul scored 56 and John Campbell made 54. Captain Roston Chase remained unbeaten on 43.

Bangladesh Face a Crucial Fourth Day

With only four wickets remaining, Bangladesh need a substantial contribution from their lower order to set West Indies a challenging target.

Jaker Ali and Nayeem Hasan will be central to the hosts’ hopes of extending their lead. The fourth day’s play could prove decisive as Bangladesh look to avoid defeat in the opening Test.

Latest score: Bangladesh 79/6, 29 overs.
Total lead: 106 runs.
Not out: Jaker Ali 18*, Nayeem Hasan 18*.
Last update: 30 October 2026, at the close of play on Day 3.
