Auqib Nabi Added to India Squad for First Three New Zealand ODIs

CricBengal.com | Sports Desk

India have added right-arm pacer Auqib Nabi to their squad for the first three matches of the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. Nabi was initially selected for the fourth and fifth ODIs, but his availability has been extended following Prasidh Krishna’s withdrawal from the five-match series due to injury.

The ODI series is scheduled to begin on November 4, with India bringing in Nabi as an additional pace-bowling option from the start.

Prasidh Krishna Ruled Out with Hamstring Injury

Prasidh Krishna had been recovering from a hamstring injury but failed to regain the match fitness required for the New Zealand ODI series.

He needs additional time to build up his workload and return to full match readiness. The team expects him to be available for the subsequent Test matches.

Nabi to Join the Team from the Start

Nabi was originally named in India’s squad for the final two ODIs. Following the latest change, he will now be available for the first three matches as well.

The right-arm pacer had been in New Zealand with the India A team. He featured in the first unofficial Test against the hosts but was not included in the revised squad for the second match, which began on October 31.

His inclusion gives India another pace option for the opening matches of the ODI series.

Limited International Experience

Nabi has played only one ODI for India so far. He made his international debut against the West Indies in Guwahati last month.

The upcoming series against New Zealand will provide him with another opportunity to strengthen his position in India’s limited-overs setup.
