Barcelona returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, defeating Deportivo Alaves 6-1 at Camp Nou on Saturday, October 31. Raphinha and Lamine Yamal scored twice each, while Fermin Lopez and substitute Anthony Gordon also found the net for Hansi Flick’s side.
The victory helped Barcelona reclaim the top position in La Liga after their recent defeats to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Barcelona Take Control in the First Half
The hosts made an aggressive start and opened the scoring in the eighth minute. Raphinha finished a move created by Fermin Lopez to put Barcelona ahead.
Fermin doubled the advantage in the 23rd minute, converting after receiving a pass from Lamine Yamal. Barcelona continued to dominate, and Raphinha scored his second goal in the 41st minute following another contribution from Fermin.
Yamal completed a commanding first-half performance by scoring in stoppage time. His goal gave Barcelona a 4-0 lead at the break.
Yamal and Gordon Add to the Scoreline
Barcelona maintained their attacking threat after the interval. Yamal scored his second of the evening in the 64th minute after receiving a pass from Gabriel Jesus. The goal was initially ruled out for offside but was awarded following a VAR review.
Substitute Anthony Gordon made it 6-0 in the 81st minute, finishing after a pass from Rodri.
Alaves managed a late consolation goal in the 84th minute. Mariano Diaz capitalised on a defensive mistake to score the visitors’ only goal of the match.
Barcelona Return to the Top
The result took Barcelona to 30 points from 11 matches, placing them two points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid.
Alaves, meanwhile, extended their winless run to seven matches.
The performance offered Barcelona a timely response after their recent setbacks, with Raphinha, Yamal and Fermin playing central roles in the attacking display.
CricBengal Analysis
Barcelona’s attacking combinations were the standout feature of the match. Raphinha provided the finishing, Yamal added creativity and goals, while Fermin contributed with both a goal and assists.
However, conceding through a defensive error will remain a point for Flick to address. The convincing result restores momentum, but defensive concentration will be important in the matches ahead.
